Dr. Doering and his wife, Lori, have 4 adult children, two of whom live in Rapid City, S.D. Dr. Doering was born and spent most of his young adult life in Wisconsin. Since college, he has been an avid backpacker, hiking extensively in the Washington Cascades, the Rocky Mountains and Denali National Park. He and Lori enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including backpacking, camping, bicycling and snowshoeing.

Board certified in surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at St. Louis University Hospitals.
