Meet Our New General Surgeon: Dr. Riley Moore

Wyoming Surgical Associates is thrilled to welcome Dr. Riley Moore to our team of experienced surgeons. In August 2026, Dr. Moore will join our practice as a general surgeon, furthering our commitment to providing excellent surgical care for our community. Starting in September, Dr. Moore will begin seeing patients, providing a high standard of care backed by experience and education.

Dr. Moore is a Casper, Wyoming native. Having been raised in Casper, he understands our community and what it takes to elevate the health and well-being of our neighbors. By returning home to practice, Dr. Moore is excited to serve his community while being close to family and enjoying the outdoor recreation opportunities Casper provides.

Initially, Dr. Moore considered studying medicine for his undergraduate education, given his affinity for the natural sciences. After receiving a biology degree, he tested out shadowing medicine, and after spending just half a day in the operating room, he was hooked. In fact, his shadowing experience that solidified his path to becoming a physician was with our very own WSA Surgeon, Dr. Beckstead.

“Shadowing Dr. Beckstead was one of my core memories along my path to becoming a surgeon,” says Dr. Moore. “I was looking into avenues I could take my education in biology and decided to shadow Dr. Beckstead. I remember that after spending just one morning with him, I began looking into how to apply to medical school. I knew I wanted to become a physician and was already strongly leaning toward a career in general surgery.”

Dr. Moore attended the University of North Dakota for medical school and for his general surgery residency. Deciding to practice general surgery ultimately came down to Dr. Moore’s strong interest in anatomy and the satisfaction of fixing patients’ problems and improving their quality of life. Additionally, Dr. Moore has developed a passion for robotic surgery like many surgeons of his generation. He appreciates the opportunity to learn new techniques and discover new technologies that will help improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Moore is committed to patient-centered care and shared decision-making between physician and patient. He wants his patients to know he is on their team, and together they can make informed decisions about their healthcare to help them pursue a better quality of life.

In his return to Casper, Dr. Moore is excited to practice at Wyoming Surgical Associates and serve the Casper community, sharing, “Having been fortunate enough to shadow and do a rotation here during residency, I can say from first-hand experience the surgeons and staff at WSA provide high-quality patient care and are great people inside and outside the operating room.”

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Moore enjoys exercising, watching sports, and spending time outdoors hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting.
